Tracey Thompson
Assistant Director for Service Delivery, North of England
Pathfinder Branches – Testing New Ways of Working
Biography
Hello, my name is Tracey Thompson, and I joined Samaritans in March as the ‘Assistant Director for Service Delivery’ for the North of England.
This is one of two new AD roles which will initially focus on supporting the delivery of our Pathfinder Programme (which is part of Future Proofing) and I am responsible for delivering this in the Yorkshire and the Humber Pathfinder region over the next 3 years, working closely with our Regional Director.
I’ve worked in the charity sector for the last 30 years in various leadership roles and began my career as a Youth and Community Worker.
I have also volunteered for the charity ‘Suicide&Co’ who support those bereaved by suicide. I was able to support them with safeguarding across the breadth of their organisation, including support to bring their counselling and helpline services in-house. I sadly lost my own dad to suicide as a young adult and so feel very privileged to be able to work for Samaritans and contribute to our vision that fewer people die by suicide.
When I am not working, I love spending quality time with my family – my husband, 3 grown up children and our ginger tom cat Garfield! I love to be outdoors walking and hiking either in the Peak District or Highlands of Scotland. I am very much looking forward to getting to know as many of our volunteers and branches as possible as the months unfold!
